Philosopher and cognitive scientist, he is the author of writings on consciousness, evolution, the mind and religion. My favorite books are “Consciousness Explained“, “Brainstorms: Philosophical Essays on Mind and Psychology“, “The Mind’s I” (co-authored with Douglas Hofstadter), “Darwin’s Dangerous Idea: Evolution and the Meanings of Life“, “Breaking the Spell, Religion as a Natural Phenomenon“.

Professor of Cognitive Sciences, he is know for his book “Gödel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid“, which connects a variety of scientific and artistic domains together. Among his other books, I particularly liked “The Mind’s I” (co-authored with Daniel Dennett), and “I am a strange loop“, both being about the mind and consciousness.

Evolutionary biologist, he has promoted neo-darwinian theories in his two (pretty old) books “The selfish gene” and “The extended phenotype“. Both texts are very detailed and riguorous, but yet it’s worth the effort and concentration, and understandable even if you’re not a biologist.
