It may be focused on a specific theme when the mind is subjected to a repetitive task for an extended amount of time, as on a deadline. The “obsessed” thoughts are thus bothering the subject at all times, day and night, unveiling the common dream experience between dreams and wake.

The taking of psychedelic drugs may also affect the “scaffold” of senses and consciousness. The latter may thus not be expanded but instead freed of its control/guiding purpose and turned into a mere observer of the dream trip.

But dreams and hallucinations also rely on the scaffold to a smaller degree, in that they incorporate past experience with the world the agent is atunet to. They are more than a mere replay, though. What is really lacking is coherence between successive actions in time.

The World–Body–Mind TRINITY is my notion of a “sentient animal”.
