Associate professor @ Université de Bordeaux
My name is Francieli Zanon Boito and I'm an associate professor (maître de conférences, with HDR, a permanent faculty position) at the Université de Bordeaux, in France, since 2019. I teach at the Informatics department of the Collège Sciences et Technologies, and I'm a researcher at the LaBRI laboratory and Inria Bordeaux, in the SATANAS department, TADaaM team.
I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2015 from the Université Grenoble Alpes, in France, and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil, and my Habilitation (Habilitation à diriger des recherches, HDR) from the University of Bordeaux in 2025.

My main research interests are in the field of high-performance computing, in parallel I/O, parallel file systems, and storage and data access in general.

I am chair of the "System Software" track for SBAC-PAD 2026.
I am deputy chair for workshops for ISC 2026.
I am co-chair for workshops for IPDPS 2026.
I'm co-leader of the work package on Parallel I/O of the NumPEx project (Exa-DoST).
I was co-chair for Birds of a Feather for Supercomputing 2023.
I worked on the ADMIRE European project.
I'm the French-side leader of the DECoHPC joint team (2024-2026) between Inria and a few Brazilian institutions: LNCC, UFF, UFRGS, and CEFET-RJ.
I was the French-side leader of the HPCProSol Inria-LNCC joint team (2021-2023).
During my Ph.D., I studied I/O request scheduling. This study led to the development of the AGIOS I/O scheduling library.
While a post-doc at Inria Grenoble (France), in the CORSE team, I developed RepliSim, a simulator to investigate data replication strategies.
When I was a post-doc at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil), I worked to improve the I/O routines of the Ondes3D seismic application.
Since 2021-2022, I'm the responsible for the "Networks and Protocols" (Réseaux et Protocoles) course of the Masters in Computer Science.
Between 2020-2021 and 2022-2023, I was the responsible for the "Introduction to C Programming" (Initiation à la Programmation C sous Unix) course, mandatory to first-year undergrad students.
Since 2020-2021, I'm in charge of the "Tools for Data Processing" (Supports pour le traitement de données) course of the Masters in High-Performance Computing and Data Science. This course is about big data tools and discusses Hadoop, MapReduce, HDFS, Spark, NoSQL databases, etc.
I participated in other courses such as Linux System Programming (Programmation Système), Programming at Large Scale (Programmation Large Échelle, another big data course), and Computer Architecture (Architectures des Ordinateurs).
