2025 Agrégation Jury

(23 June 2025)

Since 2022, France has finally established an external computer science agrégation. I remember my own computer science classes in middle school (on PCs with 5"1/4 floppy disks and MO5/TO7 machines)....

MAIA (Mastering Applications in Artificial Intelligence) is a project led by the A2U alliance, which brings together three French universities: Univ-Artois, ULCO, and UPJV. One of its objectives is to develop innovative research actions and solutions, while offering training in AI applications, with a focus on the explainability and societal acceptability of AI. MAIA aims to meet the growing need for AI skills in the fields of health, chemistry, and the environment, by offering training open to students and professionals from various backgrounds.

It was in this context that I had the pleasure of being invited to open the first MAIA days of the A2U alliance in an exceptional environment (in the Nausicaa amphitheater). I was able to take the time to provide an overview of what AI is, its hopes, but also its limitations (which I emphasize a lot during this period of high hype around large generative AI models).

It was also a great pleasure to meet friends from CRIL (univ-artois) with whom I share many research and teaching themes (as well as views on the limitations of AI). It was quite special to present the definition of AI to colleagues who are at the forefront of the field! Thank you for the invitation and the AirBnB co-location!
