I have been president of the AFPC for quite some time now, and among the association’s activities, organizing the JFPC is probably one of the most important. This year, the event took place in Lens (back to the roots!), organized by Romain Wallon (thank you!) with Frédéric Maris as chair of the program committee.
As every year, it was a unique scientific and friendly opportunity to meet and discuss SAT, CSP, Planning, knowledge representation (and many other topics), which are key AI subjects and very well represented in France. JFPC is also a unique opportunity for PhD students to present their work (sometimes still in progress) and receive constructive and supportive feedback.
In addition to the scientific quality of the presentations (I encourage you to check out the program), it was also an opportunity for me to step down and end my years as president of the AFPC. Gilles Audemard will take over (good luck for 2025!) as president of the association. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the board members who have supported me, the various JFPC organizers, and AFIA, the French-speaking AI association, for the joint organization of JFPC during PFIA.
