I had the opportunity to act as an external examiner for Chunxiao Li’s PhD thesis, conducted at the University of Waterloo. His thesis, supervised by Vijay Ganesh, is titled “Understanding and Improving SAT Solvers via Proof Complexity and Reinforcement Learning”. A thesis close to my research interests!

Acting as a reviewer/examiner for an international thesis is always a special moment in our careers because each country has its own rules and jury composition.

In this thesis, I acted as the main interrogator (a time-consuming task). This involved not only the report but also almost exclusively the scientific questions during a video interview.
