Last Saturday was, as every year, the graduation ceremony for the students of ENSEIRB-MATMECA, where I am still the head of the Computer Science department for a few more months. It was therefore my last time handing out diplomas in person to each graduate, and together with the other department heads, we made sure to liven up the day a bit (those who were there know what I mean!) to make it memorable. I will come back every year to graduate the students of our Expert diploma in AI (our AI track in Continuing Education), but the number of graduates won’t be the same!
I may repeat myself in these graduation posts, but it is truly a pleasure to see our hundred or so computer science students walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. You realize the time spent, and sometimes the entire journey of a student, when you see them go up on stage.
It’s also a moment to appreciate the total number of graduates from the entire school each year, across all departments.
Congratulations to the students and to the teaching and administrative teams!

Before the hat toss (can you spot some of the teachers?)
An engineering school is also about soft skills! And the graduation ceremony proves it every time: music, performances, dances—the whole evening is organized by the second-year students, and this year was no exception!

During the dinner-show of the ceremony (before everything turned into a dance floor)
Thanks to Pixeirb for the photos and congratulations again to everyone!

The 4 heads of the 4 original ENSEIRB-MATMECA departments. It was a pleasure to work with you, guys.
