SOSP is a CNRS PEPS project, accepted in 2013.
SOSP stands for "Synthesis Of Stream Processors".


Processing large amounts of data efficiently is now crucial, as pointed out by the Big Data community. The streaming setting amounts to process huge documents on the fly, rather than storing them in main memory. For structured data, some algorithms operating on XML streams have been introduced in the last decade. This project aims at developing new solutions for processing XML streams, with ambitious objectives, following two steps.

The first step consists in developing new algebraic techniques and characterizations for various tasks (like validation, querying or transformation) on XML streams.

The second step is the synthesis of algorithms on XML streams performing such tasks, with strong space and time constraints. These will be allowed for schemas (resp. queries, transformations) determined as streamable by our algebraic characterizations.
