DIstributed Optimal RAnges for MAnets (DIORAMA)

Description

Power conservation is a crucial problem in mobile ad hoc networks knowing that each mobile node has a limited amount of energy concentrated in a battery. The main objective of this protocol is to adapt the mobiles' transmission ranges in order to save energy and limit radio interferences while keeping the highest possible network connectivity. Simulation experiments show that our algorithm saves up to 60% of energy at reasonable speeds and network densities. Our protocol is designed for an implementation at the IEEE 802.11 MAC layer and thus can be used by any MANET routing protocol such as AODV, DYMO, etc.
