For more than two years now, with the Trustworthy AI Chair, I have been invited to give talks about the definition of artificial intelligence, what we expect from it, and its limitations. It is also for the chair and this idea of transparency that I created this blog, which notably lists the actions around this chair.
After communicating and explaining the definition of AI that I advocate, it is with great pleasure that I received the Knowledge Dissemination Award, presented by the Bordeaux University Foundation at its annual gala. It was a pleasure but also an opportunity for me to review the numerous presentations I have given, whether to students, professionals, or institutions (feel free to browse my news about this). It must be said that, even two years later, I still speak about Artificial Intelligence with the same passion and try to put into perspective what is heard in the press and media, what the GAFAM and startups announce (often to raise funds), and what I believe to be the reality of the power and limitations of these tools (which are nonetheless truly magnificent).
Even though the general framework of the talks I give remains the same (recycling is winning!), my presentations differ as much as possible (but with some good lines that I keep, sorry for those who hear a few again) and are fueled by the questions and exchanges I have had with the various audiences I have had the pleasure of meeting. Each encounter is unique!
As I give more and more talks, I am increasingly convinced that trust in artificial intelligence will not simply come from algorithms certifying these tools (and this suits us because it is still a fascinating but nascent research topic), but also from better training at all levels of users, explaining again and again this “Intelligence” which is not one and with which we will increasingly coexist.
Thank you again for this award!
I received the award from the hands of the Mayor of Bordeaux, Pierre Hurmic, which was also an opportunity to schedule meetings with Bordeaux and the metropolis for discussions about artificial intelligence. Stay tuned!
During the gala (kudos for the organization!), I also had the pleasure of having a table around Trustworthy AI, with the sponsors of the Trustworthy AI Chair:
- Labri AI Axis (Akka)
- Athome Solution
- Floa
- Fieldbox.AI
The evening, beyond the award, was a very nice and active place for professional encounters!
