Sandpile: group, Tutte, complexity

Sandpiles are discrete dynamical systems where grains move along the arcs of a directed graph. It has a nice algebraic structure (the sandpile group, with its surprising identity element), and connections to the Tutte polynomial. The computational complexity of prediction for two-dimensional sandpiles is a famous open problem. No a priori knowledge of these notions is expected. We will play with the following simulator: https://github.com/huacayacauh/JS-Sandpile/
