Thanks to the generosity of private donors, government bodies and companies, the Académie des Sciences awards nearly 80 prizes each year, covering all fields of science, both fundamental and applied. Many excellent candidates are considered for these awards. They are selected by juries operating under rules that exclude the possibility of conflicts of interest. All these prizes are awarded to the winners at solemn ceremonies held under the dome of the Institut de France.
