Noémie Kegl-Tourneix received the Young Researcher Award from the Francophone Association for Computer Music for the quality of her work and her presentation titled “Expressive Musical Performance Controlled by Vocal Gestures,” which she delivered at the Journées d'Informatique Musicale on June 15, 2026, in Lille.
The goal of this research is to enable non-musicians to play a score on a virtual wind instrument without having to learn to play an instrument. Inspired by the MetaPiano concept—which ensures accurate pitch while allowing control over expressive parameters such as rhythm, tempo, and dynamics—the system adapts this approach to wind instruments.
